This week on The Value of Recruitment Podcast my guest is Dandan Zhu, founder of DG Recruits, a rec-to-rec agency based in New York.
Dandan previously set up an exec search practice before founding her own agency, and she’s even written a book on becoming a great recruiter, so she brings some really interesting perspectives.
We talk about how recruiters can prove they’re the best at what they do through personal branding, and how that allows you to be selective about the clients you work with.
We also discuss the importance of projecting authority and confidence. Clients are looking for partners who believe in their own value, so it’s key that recruiters at all levels come across as people they want to work with.
Dandan also explains how recruiters can learn from the medical and legal industries, and charge for more of the value we create. I’m a big fan of learning from other industries, especially when we can find ways to get paid for more than just making placements.
You can listen to the episode here, as well as all previous episodes.

P.S. Dandan and I also talk about the value recruiters will continue to deliver in the future. Technology can offer a lot, but for game-changing results businesses will always need a great recruiter to get the job done.
I’ll be expanding on this topic in my session at the Recruitment Agency Expo in London on 18th March. AI is changing so much - from the challenges our clients face when hiring through to the way we stand out from the crowd - so it’s vital we learn how to create services that provide value in this new world.
If you’re coming to the Expo, reply to this email and I’ll make sure to say hi. And hopefully you’ll find my session valuable to your business too.
