Recruitment is no longer just finding a needle in a haystack
We’re called 360 recruiters because we do 360 things for our clients
As part of my session at the Recruitment Expo recently, I talked about the vast number of skills needed to deliver a great recruitment service.
The joke used to be that we found needles in haystacks for our clients. But that isn’t the half of it (it’s not even one-sixth of it!).
We no longer have to be just a superstar. In Hollywood terms, we have to be a combination of Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise, Julia Roberts, Joseph Fiennes, Uma Thurman and Robert Downey Jr.
Or to be more specific, we need to be able to…
…analyse the talent market like Brad Pitt in Moneyball
…write job ads worthy of Joseph Feinnes in Shakespeare in Love
…go to the ends of the earth to hunt people down like Uma Thurman in Kill Bill (added value: we don’t kill people when we find them)
…be as persistent as Julia Roberts in Erin Brokovich
…combine the best tech to do incredible things like Robert Downey Jr. in Ironman
…negotiate with ‘the talent’ like Tom Cruise in Jerry Maguire
Now in your business you might have a little more focus on your Brad Pitt skills, and a little less Uma Thurman. Put all this together and you have what I call the value DNA of your recruitment agency.
What’s more, it’s highly unlikely that any other recruitment agency will have exactly the same blend as you… which is why I’m confident you are unique in what you do.
Once you understand your unique approach to recruitment, all you have to do is find a way to clearly explain it to your clients in language they understand. Then see your fees go up, watch the retainers roll in, and enjoy a stronger partnership with your clients. Simple!
OK, not so simple. Which is why I’m here.
If you want to work on your value DNA and bring out your Hollywood skills, simply reply to this email with “DNA” in the subject and I’ll explain what we do next.

P.S. These Hollywood stars are paid tens of millions of dollars per film. We’re expected to be as good as all of them combined.
