Introducing your new Most Valuable Podcast

As a pricing specialist, I’m fascinated by the value recruiters create for their clients. But we don’t talk about value enough.

In my experience, recruiters too often lack belief in the value of what they do for their clients. And if you aren’t confident in your value, it’s almost impossible to win the fees you deserve.

So I’ve launched a new podcast to address this problem head on. It’s called The Value of Recruitment, and you can join me as I talk to recruitment leaders about how important recruitment is to hiring companies, how they’ve added value to their clients, and how they differentiate themselves from the competition.

My first episode is a conversation with the recruitment legend Sir Alec Reed. Synonymous with recruitment, Sir Alec founded Reed Employment in 1960 and has grown the Reed Group to become one of the biggest brands in recruitment, as both a leading recruitment agency and online job board.

Sir Alec shares so much insight from his 60+ years of experience running a recruitment business. You can hear how he charged 25 percent more than his competitors when he launched; the importance of getting Reed to stand out in a crowded market; and the power of 18 percent of Reed shares being owned by charity.

Sir Alec also describes how he thinks our industry should develop in the future, and gives advice for people looking to set up their own agency today.

This is Sir Alec’s first ever podcast interview, so it’s a rare opportunity to hear from someone who helped define the way recruitment is done in the UK and beyond. I worked with Sir Alec for many years; his thinking is entrepreneurial, disruptive, and often counter-intuitive, and I am grateful he’s sharing it.
