Miles Hunt, founder of Empresaria Group, uses the wonderful phrase "market narrator" to describe the way recruiters create value by bringing together insights for their clients.
Miles makes the point that these insights are so much more than just data from LinkedIn, and can be delivered in a much more tailored way when you’re sitting down with a client and understanding their challenges.
And yet… we rarely get paid for this hugely valuable service that we offer our clients, because it almost always gets packaged as a side-product to ‘recruiting’.
This is just one of the topics Miles and I discuss in the latest episode of The Value of Recruitment Podcast. Miles has a truly global perspective of recruitment, having been involved in around 75 recruitment firms around the world and chairing APSCo Global.
In the podcast we also talk about the changing nature of the markets we serve, and how we react to those changes. Miles uses his global perspective to illustrate the ways you can adapt and succeed in this new world.

P.S. Miles shares a fascinating anecdote of one of his managers making a pilgrimage to Mecca, and how that journey opened his eyes to the value of recruiters.
Too often I see recruiters under-valuing themselves and their services. I also see the impact this has on revenue, and the way it undermines efforts to become an expert partner to their clients.
