When I worked at Reed Recruitment I could turn to a team of management accountants - people in the finance department who would dive into the data and turn it into valuable insights for managers around the business.
The management accountants were alchemists and magicians, turning spreadsheets into gold and making insights appear out of thin air.
I loved it.
Now I work with a range of recruitment businesses, and I realise not everyone has access to this kind of resource. But I also realise that they don’t know what they’re missing.
One of the first things I do on a new project these days is analyse an agency’s financial data - placements, fees, rates and so on - with my pricing hat on.
And I still love the power of spotting nuggets of value hidden in those numbers.
How valuable are those insights? Often a simple graph demonstrating a pricing behaviour becomes the ‘penny drop’ moment when I roll out a new strategy to the business.
When consultants can see what’s happening in their own data, they really get it. Which means they adopt the new approach more quickly, start landing bigger fees, and build greater confidence in their own value.
So if you want a specialist to look into your data and find precious pricing insights, simply reply to this email and I’ll explain how it works.

PS. You might have seen what I look like with my pricing hat on thanks to a recent LinkedIn post (if you missed it, think diamante, dollar signs and gold trucker hat bling).
If I’m honest I don’t always wear it while hitting the spreadsheets… although if you want me to I will… for a modest fee. But where I’m wearing the hat or not, I always bring my eye for detail and my experience of finding value in the numbers.
So if you want a specialist to look over your data and find precious pricing insights (with or without the hat), simply reply to this email and I’ll explain how it works.
